One woman is dead and four people are in the hospital after a white pickup rammed into a crowd of people waiting to cash their checks at a business in the 500 block of Jefferson Street early Wednesday morning. Paul Mouton, public information officer for the Lafayette Police Department said the white pickup was traveling westbound on Jefferson Street when for unknown reasons the truck veered onto the sidewalk in front of Payday Loans and struck several pedestrians.
