SPRINGFIELD - Now that federal economic stimulus payments are showing up in mailboxes and bank accounts, Western Massachusetts businesses want you to know they’d be glad to have you stimulate the economy with them. Hampden Bank is encouraging people to sock their stimulus payments away for a rainy - or rainier - day. Also, taxpayers who got tax refund anticipation loans, those “instant refunds,” and set up a direct deposit of their tax refund from the IRS to pay the loan back will get a paper check for their stimulus payment. At Big Y rival Stop & Shop, customers who spend $200 or more at one time and swipe their Stop & Shop card can get 10 percent off their next order, said Stop & Shop spokesman Robert E.
