To help curve this menace FINSEC CONSULT has organized a two days training for cashiers, clerks and managers of rural banks in the northern sector. Rex Asanga the Executive director of NORTHFIN a non governmental organization and sponsors of the programme said NORTHFIN was founded with the goal of providing support to rural banks operating in the three northern regions. Asanga said many rural banks have had problems with lending to rural communities as a result of poor loan recovery. But he believes that the poor loan recovery stems from a number of factors which include the tendency to treat the rural beneficiaries like the conventional business loan offered to the city or town dwellers. The establishment of the ARB APEX bank has provided the enabling platform for all the rural and community banks to have a common voice. The APEX supervisor ended on a note that, technology has brought a lot of competition among the banks and rural banks have not been left behind in this regard and asked rural banks to rise to the task. read more
